Welcome to Apple class
Children: 5 boys and 1 girl
Staff: Rachel & Emily
We are a very busy class with lots of big personalities! We follow a play based curriculum that develops our early learning skills and promotes social interaction, communication and independence.
We love to learn and play in lots of places; we enjoy swimming, Rebound, soft play, being outdoors, Tumble Tots and spending time in the light room. We learn in many ways too and we use TEACCH strategies, intensive interaction, sensory stories, and adult and child-led play to engage us in a wide range of activities and provide meaningful opportunities for us to develop our skills.
We are enjoying our new topic On the Farm. We have been playing with lots of different farm animals and enjoyed a non-fiction story about things we may find on the farm and Mrs Wishy Washy so far. The children have enjoyed recreating parts of these when playing in mud, hay and water and exploring the tractors, barns and animals. Have a look at our beautiful display that we created during our art sessions.
This term we have been getting out and about lots; we have been on walks in the community, to Caldy Valley nature reserve and to Sandy Lane park. These have all been great opportunities to practice walking independently, develop our gross motor skills and turn take with our peers.
During the Summer term, Apple Class have been working really hard to turn-take with their friends, share resources and play together.
Apple Class always try hard to be as independent as we possibly can be. We have made great progress this term when choosing activities, getting dressed and undressed, brushing our teeth, making snacks and following instructions.
