Jane began working at Dorin Park School, as Deputy Headteacher, in January 2010.
She began her teaching career after completing a BA Hons in Graphic Design and Illustration and qualifying as a Secondary School Art Teacher.
Jane began her teaching journey in private secondary education, teaching GCSE and A level Art and Design, and went on to work in a variety of mainstream, MLD and Complex SEND settings as a Teacher, Middle leader, and Senior leader.
Jane knew early in her career that teaching and working with pupils with SEND was the area of most interest for her. She qualified as a counsellor at Level 1 whilst teaching, to enable her to better support those pupils with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
In her leadership roles she had strategic/operational responsibility for Behaviour, Safeguarding, and Emotional Health and Wellbeing as well as a variety of curriculum areas.
She managed a wide variety of staff and became the strategic lead for a variety of staff related areas.
She spent two years in an Advisory Teacher Role for Wirral Local Authority working with mainstream/SEND schools, providing training, support, and advice, for School staff and School Nursing Staff. Safeguarding, Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), Drugs Education, and Sex and Relationship Education (SRE), were her areas of expertise. As part of this work she ran the National PSHE course for Teachers/School Nurses enabling them to gain the nationally approved qualification to deliver PSHE/SRE/Drugs Education in schools.
As a member of the strategic Behaviour Team, Teenage Pregnancy Board, and Drugs and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) she worked closely with the School Nursing team to set up advisory Health and Relationships clinics in secondary schools.
Jane also stood as Parent Governor in a Wirral Primary School and has been a member of a Governing Body for the last 22 years.
She is passionate about all children being able to enjoy their educational journey and about supporting them to achieve, enabling them to be the best they can be.
