Welcome to Maple

We enjoy all our activities through a multisensory approach to learning with specific focus on a range of modes of communication including on body signing, intensive interaction, eye gaze and objects of reference. We have included specific sessions to enhance and progress sensory impairments in the class including massage stories, tac pac, light room stories, listening stories, call and response stories and resonance board activities.  We have tried to make the most out of all the facilities in school including weekly sessions in the omibeam, sensory studio, light room, outdoor classroom and the adapted bikes.

Our topic theme for this term has been ‘Festivals and Celebrations’. Our call and response stories have been adapted from the stories ‘The little Red hen’ and ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas’. The light room story focused on the story ‘Oliver’s vegetables’ and the listening story was based on ‘Funny Bones’.

We have explored the creative topics under our thematic approach including cooking, art and music. In RE we explored festivals such as Harvest, Hanukkah and Christmas.
