Welcome to Willow class

Children:7 boys and 3 girls

Staff: Catrin, Linda, Anna & Gaynor

We had a super Autumn Term in Willow class. We have loved developing our communication skills out and about in the community. We enjoy our regular trips to the supermarket where we buy our resources and cooking ingredients for the week and some of us develop our skills using the library resources. We especially enjoy ordering snack in the café!

We have enjoyed making Spaghetti Bolognese this Spring half term and of course our bacon bap enterprise is as popular as ever!

We are very excited to have started to sell our baps from the new tuck shop that we will be opening next half term. We have researched and ordered what equipment we think we will need and which items would be popular to sell. We worked together to come up with a catchy name for the shop and we can’t wait to open up … ‘The Snack Shack’!

We learnt a lot during our taster sessions at Pettypool College last term. We especially enjoyed meeting all of the animals, cooking with the catering team in the kitchen and helping out on work experience at Delamere Forest, setting out the Christmas trees ready to sell. Not all of us were so keen however in our team building activities when we learnt to trust communicate and listen carefully to one another as we stepped up on the crate challenge!

Some of us have been out and about on the buses and putting our travel training skills into action.

Whilst others have enjoyed learning outdoors and working in Caldey Valley Nature Reserve with Peter.

With all the great things we get up to in Willow Class, we still love spending lunch times in class, looking after our Guinea Pigs, Cabbage and Patch who are very well loved around the school and with our resident ‘Guinea Pig whisperers’

This Spring and Summer Term Willow class continued to enjoy developing their skills across the curriculum. Travel training, Independent skills, cooking, visiting Northop College for taster sessions, animal care, work related learning enterprise, and of course the successful opening of our ‘Snack Shack’. We are looking forward to the last half term, planning and preparing for our end of term celebrations of all we have achieved this year.
