Mable: is the brown coloured hen. She is the the matriac of the flock, she likes to keep everybody in line.
Hilda: is the red coloured hen. She is the busiest of the hens in laying most of the eggs, she also likes to play hide and seek with the eggs.
Gladys: is predominantly white with black specs. Gladys is very vocal and likes to sing alot.
The chickens bring so much calmness and interest to our pupils. Our pupils have taken great pride in looking after and ensuring the chickens are well fed.
Due to the great interest the chickens display, it has enabled our students to further progress in their communication and independent skills. Here are a few pictures of one of our students collecting eggs from the chicken coop whilst the chickens wonder around their area.
Feeding and laying Time
Its the girls favourite time of day, lunch time, our pupils take excellent care and pride in looking after the chickens, ensuring they have the right amount of food to stay healthy and lay the best eggs in Chester! After lunch, just like our pupils, the chickens like to have a little play, mostly roll round and dig up the bark.
